The beginning of Stage Two of the Overwatch League season didn’t have quite the impact that they may have expected when it came to viewership numbers on Twitch.
During the weekend kickoff, Overwatch League saw 3.39 million hours watched on Twitch, which is down from the 3.9 million hours watched last year at this point, according to The Esports Observer.
Additionally, there was a noticeable dip in average concurrent viewership to 107K, which is down from 152K CCV for the first week of stage 2 back in 2018.
The report goes on the point out that it’s fair to take into account the 3 of the 8 teams added to the league are geolocated to China, which bans access to the Twitch platform.
