For the first time in Stage 2, viewership for the Overwatch League on Twitch has exceeded the figures of 2018.
The Overwatch League main stream experienced some technical issues, which prevented many fans from being able to tune in to see the action, but it did little to prevent the league from notching it’s biggest weekend of Stage 2.
Regarding the issue with the Twitch streams issues:
“There are technical issues with the Overwatch League stream and Blizzard is working to resolve it quickly. If you have the All-Access pass you can watch any feed other than the ‘main stream’ feed to watch the broadcast,” a league spokesperson posted on Blizzard Entertainment’s forums.
“The feed on WatchESPN is also working. (You cannot earn tokens from this provider.) MLG, OverwatchLeague.com do not seem to be working.”
According to The Esports Observer, The league notched 3.37 million hours watched over the weekend, up from 3.26 million hours watched for Stage 2’s 3rd week back in 2018 for the
main Overwatch League channel, French-language broadcast, and Korean-language broadcast.
The second day matched 2018’s 118K CCV, Saturday’s 125K CCV average was down from 2018’s 129K, and Sunday’s 115K CCV was well below 2018’s 132K.
