Meta Reportedly Eyeing Livestreaming Platform Similar To Twitch

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is reportedly testing a new livestreaming platform called ‘Super’ which apparently has “similar functionality to Twitch” with only a handful of influencers and creators able to test it out.

Facebook already has Facebook Gaming, which has attempted to compete with platform giants Twitch and YouTube, but has struggled to keep pace despite the high-profile signings of Disguised Toast, who has already left, and Warzone star Zack ‘ZLaner’ Lane.

This news shouldn’t come as a shock as Bloomberg reported back in 2020 that Super was aiming to be a “cameo-inspired tool” similar to FaceTime.

However, a new insider report that Super ”has become an interactive livestreaming product, with similar functionality to Twitch.”

With Facebook Gaming struggling, and with an un-imaginative approach to essential present their own version of what Twitch already has, it’s hard to imagine that Meta’s new ‘Super’ can make a mark. Meta already has to overcome a negative view of Facebook among many, thanks to a number of shady things that have popped up over the last several years.

Only time will tell if Meta’s new ‘Super’ can resonate with content creator
