Recently, Elon Musk acquired Twitter for $44 Billion. Not soon after taking over as “Chief Twit”, Musk decided to announce the change to the Twitter Blue subscription plan. Twitter released an update this last Saturday on IOS announcing the great new features of Twitter Blue, and have more on the way soon.
The new Twitter Blue plan would allow verification for everyone who paid $7.99 a month. Twitter Blue subscribers will receive blue checkmarks and accounts that are verified as official, which is why Twitter is introducing the “Official” label to select accounts when they launch.
Esther Crawford, who handles the early-stage products announced that Twitter Blue is not currently live yet and that New Blue would be coming soon. She sent out a tweet to clear up a lot of the confusion about the new Twitter Blue monthly subscription plan.
“Not all previously verified accounts will get the “Official” label and the label is not available for purchase. Accounts that will receive it include government accounts, commercial companies, business partners, major media outlets, publishers, and some public figures.”
“The new Twitter Blue does not include ID verification – it’s an opt-in, paid subscription that offers a blue checkmark and access to select features. We’ll continue to experiment with ways to differentiate between account types.”
It is rumored that the new Twitter Blue plan will start sometime after the election midterms.
The new Blue isn’t live yet — the sprint to our launch continues but some folks may see us making updates because we are testing and pushing changes in real-time. The Twitter team is legendary. 🫡 New Blue… coming soon! https://t.co/ewTSTjx3t7

There have several individuals that have been upset over the change and decided to change their Twitter names to Elon Musk, however, they left their handles as their name and immediately had their accounts banned. Kathy Griffin, who is verified on Twitter and is a comedian was amongst those individuals who got their account banned and then went on her dead mother’s account requesting that she received her account back. Elon Musk stated that if she was willing to pay the $8 he would allow her to have it back. A few others changed their name back, due to them not wanting to have their account banned as well.
Once more information is released about when the new Twitter Blue subscription plan is officially released, we will provide everyone with more details.
